Owing to certain unl’orseen items of expenditure the Grey District Jubilee Celebrations cost more than was expected. The Mayor instanced the case of the Maori party which came for the Jubilee. They had only count cd on a party of twelve, whereas between forty and fifty turned up, and this item of expenditure alone amount ed to £l5O. John Curran, bailiff o f Wanganui, is at present on inmate of the Hospital as a result of beinw attacked on Saturday afternoon by some unknown assailant, who punched and kicked him in the face.
