BREAKING, ENTERING & THEFT.
TWO MEN CHARGED. COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. (Per Press Association). Palmerston N., March 20. The Police Court this morning resembled a jumble sale when Leonard George Coley, a labourer, aged '3l, and Henry Coley, a cheesemaker, aged 27, were jointly charged with breaking and entering the premises of Leslie Ernest Collier, furrier, Palmerston North, and stealing therefrom fur coats valued at £235; also with breaking and entering the store of William George Benning at Ohau and stealing goods to the valqe of £25; also with breaking and entering the Ashhurst railway station and stealing £1 5s 6d. The accused pleaded guilty and were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. It was stated that the accused removed a car from a parking place in Palmerston North, which they used in connection with the robberies. To a charge of breaking and entering the premises of Arthur Thomas Sommur, at Hamilton, Leonard George Colev pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, concurrent with the term already being served.
