COMING INTERNATIONAL MATCHES. AUSTRALIA v. ENGLAND. London, Feb. 22. The Lawn Tennis Association has provisionally arranged an England versus Australia match on June 15 and 16 and a women’s match at Bournemouth on June 8 and 9.— (A. and N.Z.) FRANCE v. AUSTRALIA. DOUBLES A CLOSE GO. Sydney, Feb. 22. The second series of the France v. Australia tests was concluded in fine weather on fast courts. France won the series by six rubbers to three. The third series will be played in Melbourne. To-day’s matches resulted :— Crawford defeated Brugnon. B—6, 6—4. In the first set the Australian was behind 5—2. playing badly, .but he recovered splendidly, volleying well, and his serving was fine. The long set tired Brugnon more than Crawford, who. except for a brief period, placed a brilliant •all-round game. It was Crawford’s best display during the carnival. Borotra defeated Patterson. 6—4. 6—2. The visitors was more active, making remarkable recoveries. In tinfirst set Patterson was in good form, hut faded away. His serving was fairly good, but be was weak in other phases of the play. Borotra was right nt the top of his form. His success made France five rublters to three, ensuring victory in the tests. Borotra and Brugnon defeated Pattorton and Hopman. B—6, 5—7, 6—2. The winners showed better combination, otherwise there was little difference in the play. Patterson displayed much improvement on his previous efforts. Hopman returned Gnelv. Brugnon was the better of the Frenchmen. The contest provided some brilliant play
