BAND CONTEST
SOLO RESULTS. Christchurch, Feb. 22. The band contest was advanced a stage further to-day, when various solo sections were heard, also the trombone trio class and the final of tli e B grade test. Results: — Euphonium solo.—T. H. Hughes Clintock (Woolston) 93. 2; L. Claydon (Wellington Tramways) 92, 3. Trombone trios.—Timaru Municipal 88, Wellington Tramways 87. St. Kilda No. 1 81 Woolston 80. Pannevirke 78, St. Kilda No. 2 77, Queen Alexandra’s Own 76. The results of the two B grade tests with the final placings of the contestants were:—Wellington Central Mission, first test 135. second 114. total 249: Jupps Silver (Wellington). 128, 1.17. 245; Ist Battalion Wellington, 120 112, 232; Dunedin Tramways. 125. 95, 220. Baritone: W. .1. Nelson (Knikorai) 91 points 1, >l. Diver (Wellington Tramways) and S. Cathedral (Wellington Central Mission) 90 equal 2 Flugel horn : G. Lowery (Kaikoura) 94 1. W.
