HARBOUR BOARD POLL.

(To the Editor). Sir, —I notice that the advertised date for the election of a further Hastings representative on the Harbour Board is Wednesday, March 7th. Why should Wednesday be selected ? Recent polls held on that day have proved very unsatisfactory as to the number of ratepayers exercising the franchise. The shops are closed in the afternoon and the inducement for people to be in town is obviously affected. Other days surely would prove to be far more satisfactory and give, less reason for regret as to the paucity of ratepayers registering their votes.—l am, OBSERVER. Hastings, 13/2/28.
