HASTINGS JUNIOR CONTEST. HIGH SCHOOL v. TOMOANA. The Hastings junior grade cricket contest was continued on Saturday. High School made 126 (Love 60, Graham 21, Brenton-Rule 21) in reply to Tomoana’s 221. Potalm captured seven wickets for 38 runs. In their second visit Tomoana made 101 (Grant 32, Potaka 21, Mitchell 20). Lynch took five wickets for. 21 runs. High School had lost two wickets for 70 runs when stumps were drawn and Tomoana won on the first innings count. H. 5.0.8. v. HASTINGS. Old Boys’ reply to Hastings' 69 was 245 (Geake 70, Stubbs 65, Fippard 55). Hastings fared even worse in their second visit, making but 41 of which Flynn scored 18. Nairn took six wickets for 19 runs. Old Boys won by an innings and 135 runs. CENTRAL HAWKE’S BAY GAMES In the second round of the Central Hawke’s Bay Cricket Sub-Asso-ciation’s fixtures for Ormond Cup honours, the Waipukurau District High School team and Eparaima completed their match at Wanstead on Saturday, when the latter won by nine wickets and three runs. The winners’ best bats were Hartland (43) and A. S. Wilder (34), the only ones for the school to reach double figures being L. McCarthy (28) and —. McCarthy (12). The second match played was between the Waipukurau Old Boys and Otane, the former being the victors by 110 runs. Old Boys’ second innings closed at seven wickets for 193, top scorer being Davidson (38 not out). Otane could raise only 71, of which Oram contributed 25 and Page 14.
