A BAD YEAR

FOR NEW SOUTH WALES MINERS MANY LOST DAYS. FLOODS, SECTIONAL STOPPAGES SLACKNESS OF TRADE. IBy Cable — Press Assn. — Copyright.) (Received 6, 10.30 a.m.) Sydney, Jan. 6. Last year was one of the worst experienced by miners in the South Maitland coalfields for many years. Pelawmain and Aberdare were the only collieries which were worked for more than 200 days, while records for the previous years show that there were over 12 collieries about tile 200 working days mark. Deputies’ trouble and floods were responsible for over three weeks of lost time but sectional stoppages and slackness of trade accounted for many lost days. Out of the 13 days up to the end of the year some miners drew less than two days’ pay.
