I 1 rank Bevan appeared before the local J’s.P. on Wednesday morning and received a sentence of 14 days’ hard labour on a charge of vagrancy. A motor-car belonging to Mi’ Trudgeon. of Masterton, went over the bank at the Waipawa end of the new cutting at Corkscrew Gully on ■j W y? al 8 Eve- The car was considerably damaged, and Mr and Mrs Irudgeon received injuries necessitating their removal to the District Hospital in the ambulance. Mrs Irudgeon had several ribs broken and suffered from severe shock Mr Trudgeqn also received injuries. The two children escaped injury. Quite a cold snap was experienced here on Tuesday. Hie rainfall at Waipawa during December was 5.17 inches, and for the year 1927 42.10 inches. The average for 16 years is 34.53 inches. The Waipawa Athletic Club is. putting on another evening’s programme at Coronation Park on Friday. The competitors include several “cracks” in the athletic world.
