STORTFORD LODGE SALE. The Hawke’s Bay Stock Auctioneers’ Association held the first sale of the Now Year at Stortford Lodge yesterday, when a fair yarding of cattle and sheep was offered to a small attendance of the public. Beef was in over supply and several good pens of ox and cow beef were passed in. In the store cattle section forward cattle easily maintained late rates while medium conditioned lines sold well. A small entry of fat sheep sold well and all lines of store sheep sold under the hammer at a slight advance on last sale. WESTFIELD MARKET. Auckland, Jan. 4. At Westfield there was an average yarding of beef and a good number of cows and heifers. Competition was erratic, and values as a whole were inclined to be somewhat easier. Extra choice ox sold to 32s per 1001 b, choice and prime 28s to 31s. just killable 24s to 275. prime young cow and heifer beef 24s to 275, just killable 21s to 235.

Sheep: An average yarding there being little or no change in values. Heavy prime wethers £1 6s fid, to £1 8s 6d, medium £1 4s to £1 6s 3d, light and unfinished £1 Is to £1 3s bd, heavy prime 'ewes £1 to £1 2s 6d, lighter 16s fid to 19s fid. other owes 10s to 14s fid.
