MONTHLY MEETING. GENERAL BUSINESS. The monthly meeting of tlie Hawke’s Bay Rivers Board was held in Napier today. Present:—Messrs J. A. Millet (chairman). G. Purves. T. Donvan. W. G. Jarvis. H. R. Clark, C W Hellyer. G Latham. J. Macdonald, and W. W. Smart. In connection with the flood damage loan of £7280, the Local Government Loans Board wrote enquiring as to the provision the board proposed to make for a repayment, and suggested a three per gent, sinking fund —lt was agreed to pay the suggested three per tent. Mr F. C. Hay consulting engineer, advised that lie would resume work on October 1, and stated that he desired to discuss with the board terms regarding future work. -Received. The overseer (Mr P. Scullin) sub mitted the following report on the work done during the past month Omahu to Pakowhai: To felling poplars and willows, cutting into lengths and burning tops at Holden’s.—Cost for month £45. To protecting south bank Ngaruroro near mouth. —Cost for month £36. Total cost of this work. £57 .3s 3d. Topping trees between Whakatu an Clive.—Cost for month £lO. Tuki Tuki-Te Mata: Fascene wosk has been completed. Total cost Of this work. £2OO. Cost for month. £47 8s Bd. To fencing lopping and planting above and below Grange bridge.—Cost for month £27. Tutaekuri-Puketapu: To stumping and digging down bank.—Cost for month £l6 13sPuketapu to Redcliffe: Clearing obstructions from bed. —Cost £6 IDs lid. Tutaekuri Overflow. Papakura: To repairing fences north and south banks, repairs to approaches and minor repairs to banks. —Cost for month £35. Horse teams scooping Raupare Bank—£s4. Tractor is working well. Cost for month in eluding petrol, oil. grease and men's time—£9o. Blasting has been done at Puketapu and Tuki Tuki during month.
