SPANISH PLOT
TO ASSASSINATE KINO AND PREMIER. DIRECTORATE ANNOUNCED. Madrid, Oct. 2. The Spanish police discovered a widespread revolutionary plot and conspiracy to assassinate King Alfonso and General de Rivera. It is stated that 100 bombs were found. The arrests include the Republican leaders Marcelino, Doningo, Baldomero, and de Zania-
Prominent generals have addressed a representation to King Alfonso, urging the restoration of the old regime and urging that as the Moroccan problem, which constituted the raison d’etre for the Directorate, no longer exists, there is no object
in retaining the dictatorship. Great excitement has been caused by the publication of a leaflet by the Conservative ex-Premier, Senor Sanchez Guerra, denouncing King Alfonso for having assisted in setting up a despotism which past generations had fought to overthrow. Senor Sanchez has left Spain, and other prominent people aye following his example.—(A. and N.Z.)
