Studebaker Commander September Successes . September 2nd— NEW YORK TO SAN FRANCISCO RECORD AGAIN BROKEN BY COMMANDER. Distance 3471 miles. Total elapsed time 77 hours, breaking previous record by 2 hours 15 minutes. September sth— AMERICAN STOCK CAR RACE, 75 miles. COMMANDER Ist and 2nd, averaging 85.95 miles per hour for the whole distance. Petrol consumption 17| miles per American gallon, Nash, Buick, Chrysler and Hudson competed. September sth— PIKE’S PEAK AMERICAN HILL CUMB, 12 miles, altitude 4753 feet. COMMANDER secured 2nd place, only beaten by a few seconds by Stutz, which sells at twice the price of the Commander.
