LONDON’S MAYOR
OFFICIAL VISIT TO ROME IMPOSING PROGRAMME ARRANGED. TO MEET POPE, KING AND DICTATOR. (British Official Wireless). (Received 1, 10.50 a m.) Rugby, tiept. 30. The Lord Mayor oi London, bir Rowland Blades, und the Lady Mayoress, accompanied by their two eldest twin daughters, left London this afternoon on their official visit to Rome. The party will be the guests ol Prince I’oteuziani, Governor of Rome, who has taken for them suits ot apartments at the Ambassadors Hotel. Elaborate preparations have bees made for their welcome, and an imposing programme has been organised. Rome will be gay with dags and bunting. The party will be received by Signor Mussolini and probably by the King of Italy and His Holiness the Pope. An official dinner will be given in their honour, by the Government and municipality at the Capitol. They will attend a gala performance at the opera and they will make excursions to various places of historic interest. The Lord Mayor will lay wreaths on the tomb of “The Unknown Soldier,” and on the tomb of the Kings of Italy at Pantison. The visit will last for five days.
