CONFERENCE AT HAVELOCK N. Thursday last was a most important day in Havelock North, us it marked a representative gathering from all parts of the province. Miss bpencer, the organiser, occupied the chair, and presided over about VO delegates from twelve institutes. Resolutions received from Bissingen and Woodville were adopted. 1 he delegates read reports of their Institute, which the meting found interesting. Miss Spencer. Miss nilson and Mrs Bond were appoint cd delegates to the National Council of Women. At the afternoon session nearly 200 members attended, when the audience was greatly interested in a splendid exhibit of soft toys and handicrafts made by members of the various Institutes, the work in most eases being of a very high standard. A charade, descant singing and community singing and dancing helped to make the afternoon a very pleasant one. and the delegates spoke highly of the hospitality extended to them bv the Havelock North Commit tee under Mrs Reeve, the chairwoman. and Mis Bai'ltrop acting-secre-tary of the local branch. The singling of the National An them brought the conference to a close.
