THE PICTURE HOUSES
COSY DE LUXE.
“California,” Tim McCoy’s latest Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer historical production, now at the Cosy Theatre is by far the best picture this d" siting star has appeared in. It is based on an original story by Peter B. Kyne and tells of the conquest of California in 1846. Dorothy Sebastian has the leading feminine role of a lovelv and fiery daughter of the Spanish Dons. Never before has dashing Tim McCoy had a finer rote than in this stirring romance of pioneering days in the West. Cracking acting a whirlwind narrative of intrigue and warfare, and a charming romance that breaks through the ’ lines of battle 1 The adventures of Kit Carson, famous scout and woodsman, have filled many volumes, but his work in “California” is the most thrilling of any fact or fiction ever accredited to this daring figure. “The Collegians.” Chapter 5. is also shown and should appeal to many. Saturday Matinee.
“Oh, Baby!” is the story of a real Peter Pan—the story of a boy who never grew up. If you doubt his existence you have to go to the Cosy Theatre where the Universal-Jewel production, “Oh Baby!’’ will be the feature attraction on Saturday. The lion’s share of honours in this fulllength comedy go to a diminutive newcomer to stardom. Little Billy (that’s all the name he has) is forty inches of good actor and regular fellow. Little Billy is seen as the Napoleonic manager of a group of prize-fighters, one of whom is scheduled to compete for the heavyweight title. MUNICIPAL MATINEE. Love, humour, pathos and a touch of tragedy are adroitly blended in “Stage Madness.” a Victor Shertzinger production for Fox Films, which opens at the Municipal Theatre on Saturday. Virginia Valli plays the feminine lead in this graphic portrayal of theatrical life, with its locale in Paris nd New York. This charming actress, who has recently appeared in several Fox feature pictures, has a role ideally suited to her talents. She appears as a dancer of renown who stakes her all upon a career, to the exclusion of home and family. She is. supported by an ex. cellent cast, including Tullio Carmenati, Lou Tellegen Richard Walling, Virginia Bradford, Tyler Brooke and others.
