All fast work was done this morning on the outside of the course proper and. as the trestles were far out. the times in ,consequence appear slow. * * ♦ ■ Liaison was first out before break fast, running half a _ jle in 524. and finishing strongly. Bennanee, alone, took 1.21 to cover three-quarters of a mile, the first three furlongs in 39|. The Catmint gelding will do better in the near future. « • « Marsurd, under a steady hold, ran three in 43sec. Black Girl and Royal Court took 53 4-ssec for half a mile. The former was going very easy and could have done much better if asked, and looks like turning out a useful twoyear old. Othon and Hinehohero were companions in a good working gallop, running the last three in 421. Watchman, Mountain Heath. Sunny Autumn. Singleton. Road Hog and Clavers all did strong* work. Mountain Heath looks none the worse for his three wins at Napier, his condition reflecting great credit on his trainer. W. Woods, who, with owner Mr J. Landels. has come in for a shower of congrats over their triple win, Tba Lady and Lipsol finished well and without effort after running six furlongs in 1.21. * Coot was sent out to go with Tea Lady, but absolutely refused to leave the mark so Lipsol had to be substituted Later, wtih a chan-re of riders, she was half an hour before she decided to go. In running five fuilongs in 64J she did the Lest of the morning. Queen's Choice and King Quex were under a strong pull over five ■furlongs in*l.lo. Eloquent beat Nahi bv a couple of lengths with Birklad further back, well beaten, over half a mile in 524. Minter ran the last three of four in 39. while Abisogne did half a mile nicely in 52 3-5. * Butterscotch and Cloyne ran five in 67, the last four taking 54, while Tresham and Chips were not doing their best to run six in 1.234. and then Polonaise took 52 4 5 for half a mile, not finishing well. * Lombardo (Green) and Ballyfarnon (Stratton) jumped a round of the hurdles, the latter finishing in front. The former will be better suited by the extra two furlongs on Saturday. Timipouri (des Landes) led Red Fuchsia (McDonald) over three hurdles. The’latter did not fence as usual, which might be accounted for that the pace was not fast enough Irish Court and Hakuwai ran three furlongs in 42J, easing up over the last furlong. Mr D. H.
