Monte Blue heads the brilliant cast ill “Hogan’s Alley,” the Warner Bros.’ classic of the screen, which will be screened_this evening at Havelock. The story, laid in the old Bowery atmosphere of New York of twenty years ago. concerns the romance of a little Irish girl and a young prize-fighter, which a rich doctor and the . girl’s father attemot lo end. Monte plays Leftv O’Brien, a young prizefighter, who is the idol of the alley. Opposite him in the role of Patsv Ryan is Patsv Ruth Miller Willard Louis plays Patsv’s cld father, and Nigel Barrie is seen as the wealthy suitor her father favours. Louise Fazenda appears as Dollv. a gay Broadwayite. who is a friend of Nigel Barrie’s. The remainder erf 'he cast includes Max Davidson. Ben Turpin Frank Hagnev. Mary Carr. Frank Bond and the Texas Kid. For the sequences showing the Athletic Club and the prize-fights. Warner Bros secured the services of old-time champions of the world, among them Tames J Jeffries. Tommy Rvan Ad Wolgast. and Ted “Kid” Lewis This screen production, adapted bv Darrvl Francis Zanuck, has been acclaimed bv critics in other cities as one of the most humanly fascinating comedvmelodramas ever filmed.
