A total of 283 immigrants from the United Kingdom who have come to settle in Now Zealand arrived at Auckland by the Mataroa from London yesterday. Most of the newcomers will live in Auckland and Wellington provinces. A large proportion of the younger men have work to go to in the country and other* aoek rural occupation. Twenty-four domestics are also aboard. The birth of a girl occurred at sea, the parents being Mr and Mrs McDermott, bound <ox Christchurch.
