CAPTAIN COOK

CENTENNIAL STAMP A COIN,

HAWAII CELEBRATION NEXT YEAR.

Honolulu, Aug. 20 Designs for the Codk centennial stamp and coin, commemorating the sesquicentennial celebration to be held here in 1928, have been taken from engravings of Captain James Cook and from artists' drawings of incidents of his visits here in 1778 and 1779. Captain discovered the Hawaiian Islands when he touched at Waimea, Kauai, and was killed the following year at Kealakekua. Hawaii. The request to issue a 50-oent commemorative coin will be brought before the federal government by Governor Farrington in accordance with a resolution adopted by the 1927 Legislature. Elaborate plans for the celebration, which will be held in August, are being made by the commission.
