ACCUSED OF ESPIONAGE
RUSSIANS SENTENCED TO DEATH,
LENINGRAD TRIAL. (Received 26, 9.55 a.m.) Leningrad, Sept. 25. Four Russians accused of espionage on behalf of the British were sentenced to death and a fifth to 10 years’ imprisonment. The prosecuting counsel was wildly applauded when he declared that the prisoners had been acting under instructions from Captain Ross and supplied most valuable information to the Polish and Finnish espionage departments, receiving in exchange bombs, visas, and money with which they plotted and participated in terrorist acts.— (A.P.A. and “Sun” cable.)
