CYCLING

HASTINGS CLUB TEN-MILE ROAD RACE. A ten-mile road race was held under the auspices of the Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, in Hastings last Saturday afternoon, when a gathering of over a hundred spectators were present, and enjoyed one of the best contests held here for many years. The course was from the Stortford Lodge Hotel, down Pakowhai road to Lyndhurst road, along Lvndhurst road. Nbttinglev road, and Omahu road, back to the hotel—a distance of two and a-half miles, which means that the course had to be covered four times in the race. Nineteen competitors took part in the contest, which was interesting from start to finish. Following is the result: — W. Ha"?s (4min), 27min 49sec .. 1 L. Manson (150 sec 2 H. Harrison (IfiOsec) 3 Cullinane (180 sec .. 4 W, Polling (90sec) made the fastest time—2smin 29sec—and C. Sutton, of Taradale (scr), with 25min 55sec. was the second fastest. From a good start.
