A big crowd awaited the opening of the two days’ international swim ming contests in the great swimming pool at Osaka, the contestants representing the champions of America. Australia, and Japan. Time, 2.54 2-10. —(A and N.Z.) 100 metres free style.—Laufer I. E. Crabbe 2, Grier 3. Time 61 sec. 400 metres free style.—C. Crabbe 1. Clancy 2.
