■ NAPIER PARK MEETING SECOND DAY OF SPRING FIXTUBE. GLORIOUS WEATHER. Th* Napier Park Racing Olut>'» Spring meeting at Greenmeadowe wai continued to-day under glorioui weather conditions* the westerly blow during the wee'-end having a beneficial effect on the course, which wae in excellent racing order. The attendance of the public was quite satisfactory, being slightly more than that of Saturday. The proceedings were enlivened by selections of the Moteo Maori Orchestra. The following are the results up tc going to press:— NURSERY HANDICAP. - Of 100 sovs.; 5 furlongs. B.—Mr J. 8. McLeod’s ch. c. Baasay, by Paper Money—Obiwia (J. Hockley), 8.3 1 I—Mrs1 —Mrs M. A. Perry’s bX Tea Miss (A. E. Seising) 8.10 2 7. —Mr J. D. Ormonad’s b.f. Mausin (E. Joyce), 7.7 3 Also started: 3 Monetize, 6 Milair, S High Court, 8 Arrowshot, 4 SunnyAutumn. From the barried rise Baasay jumped to the front leading from Sunny Autumn Monetize, Mausin and High Court, hounding the bend Raasay still dead the field, which was beginning to spread out, Tea Miss having run into second place. Coming into the straight the order was unchanged but in the run for home a keen set to took place between the two favourites, * which ended in Raasay gaining tha verdict by a length. Mausin was several lengths further back. Time, 1.3 2.5. TRIAL HACK HANDICAP. Of 100 sovs.; 6 furlongs. J.—Mr J. Landeis’ b.g Mountain Heath, by Heather Mixture— Mountain Shrine (C. France), 8.9 1 fi. —Mr J. S. McLeod’s ch. g. Torquil (J. 8. Potter), 7.8 ...... 2 6.—Mr W. F. Fleming’s blk. g. Heather Blend (T. Tasae), 7.8 .. 3 (T. Tasse), 7.8 3 Also started.—Dreamy 8.1, Fairy Mark 7.12, Sloyne 7.8, Clavers 7.8. Some difficulty was expeneuced in getting the horses to line up. Eventually the field, except Cloyne, who was badly left, made a nice broaa. Dreamy instantly shot to the front, being followed by Torquil, Mountain Heath, and Clavers. Coming round the band Dreamy increased her lead to over two lengths,, with Mountain Heath still leading the rest of the field. Coming to the straight entrance Dreamy was still going well, further increasing her lead while Torquil ran into second place, frown the straight Dreamy faded away, and Torquil and the favourite, Mountain Health m-nle a desperate fight for the honours. In. an exciting nnish. Mountain Heath won by a neck from Torquil, with Heather Blend a length and a naif away, Dreamy and Clavers being the next to finish. Time, 1.17. EBKDALE HACK HURDLES. (Of 125 sovs.; one mile and a half. 2.—Mr J. J. Spratt’s b.g. Garzon, by Heather Mixture—‘Gazeen (J Nixon) 10.7 y 1 t. —Mr H. 8. Green’s Lombardo (B. Mcßrearty), 9.6 2 4. —Mr E. M. Langley’s Ballyfarnon (C. Stratton) 9.8 3 Also started. —3 Peahwa 11.3, 1 Mountain Top 9.8 8 8 Patuki 9.6* 7 Panchito 9.0, 5 kVailong 9.0, 9 Kakauponga 9.0. The field got away in splendid order Ballyfarnon and Lombardo going to the front with Panchito close up leading Peshwa, and Garzon. At the first jump Panchito fell. Passing the stand Ballyfarnon was half a length in front of Lombardo, who led from Peahwa, Garzon, Mountain Top, and Bakauponga. Going round the back the positions remained unchanged, except that Bakauponga was moving up quickly while Patuki and Wailong tailed the field. Bounding the bend for home Garzon and Lombardo rapidly closed the gag between them and the leading pair, while Mountain Top also moved up. After clearing the last jump a ding dong race ensued. Garzon went to the front, Lombardo following him, leaving Ballyfarnon, who had made the pace, in third place. In the dash for the port Garzon pulled away from Lombardo to win by one and a half lengths, with Ballyfarnon two lengths further away. Peshwa led the rest of the field. Time, 2.47 3-5. RACING CLUB HANDICAP.
Of 175 sovs. One mile and a distance. 8 Mr. C. Elgar’s b g Vertigern by Rossendale—Pansy (J. S. Potter), 7.12 > 1 2 Mr F, S. Easton’s Rouex (R. J. Mackie), 8.5 2 1 Mr. J. A. Taylor’s Tresham (E. A. Keesing), 9.0 3 Also started: 4 Merle 7.0, From the rise of the tapes VertiKrn immediately shot to the front, ing followed by Tresham, Rouex, and Merle. Going out of the bend Vertigern had a lead of over two lengths, which he increased to four lengths at the half-mile post. The same order prevailed until approaching the bend for home, when Rouex ran into second place, Tresham and Merle, however, being close behind. A most exciting race ensued, Vertigern getting home by a bare nose. The favourite, with Merle, little over a length away Time. 1.57. TELEPHONE HACK HANDICAP, (Of 100 sovs. Six furlongs.) 8 _ . J. Potter); 7.7 3 Also started: 4 Rongo 7.10, 5 Polonaise. From the harrier rise the field set away together. Mountain Heath going to the front. At the end of the second furlong he was replaced by Polonaise. Chips and Toka. Coming on to the bend Polonaise hnd a lead of a good two lengths of Chins. Toka
and Rongo, Mountain Heath tailing the field. Entering the straight Polonaise and Chips were disputing the lead, and up the straight Mountain Heath began to move and got up in time to roc the favourite (Chips) of victory by a nose. Toka was barely a length away Polonaise being next to finish. On returning to the paddock France was accorded an ovation.

Auckland, September 26 Fine weather prevailed for the conclusion of the Avondale Jockey Club's Spring Meeting, and there is a rood holiday attendance. The track is heavy after the rain on Saturday and Sunday. Results:— Kingsland Hurdles.—Kendal (McRae) 1, Glenotus (Rae) 2, Tetahi (Rowe) 3. Scratched: Slump. Won by seven lengths: twelve lengths between second and third. Nursery Handicap.—l Orewa (Gray) 1. 2 Second Wind (Reed), carried 8.1. 2. 3 Nankin Blue (Man son) 3. Scr: Coruscate. Won by a length, three lengths between second and third. Time, 1.13. The winner was coupled with Look Out. Mt. Albert Handicap.— i Waltzer (Tinker) 1, 9 Whaka King (Wiggins) 2.2 Bahama 3.
