An advert, in our amusement columns announces an extension of Messrs. Staig’s Amusement Enterprises season. The public of Hastings have been liberal in the support they have accorded the big merry-go-rou'nd and chair-a-plane situated in Russell street during the past week and when it is remembered that Messrs. Staig’s are generously donating 25 per cent, of their gross receipts to help swell the Mayor’s fund for the relief of unemployment it is hoped that the public will continue to support these popular machines until the termination of their short season in Hastings. A remarkable occurrence has been reported to the Masterton police (states the “Dominion’s” correspondent). It is alleged that a masked burglar 'broke into an isolated house in Makora road on Wednesday night, binding and gagging a six teen-year-old boy and using similar treatment to a small girl, after which he searched the house and stole some mone.,.
