STERLING IN NEW YORK

•STEADINESS WILL CONTINUE.

(Received 5. 10.45 a.m.) London, Sept. 4.

The “Investors’ Chronicle,” commenting on the steadiness of the sterling in New York, says there is a feeling that this will continue for some time as important support is promised in the shap of the remittance to London of the whole proceeds of the recent Australian-New York loan.

This will provide London buyers with 40,000.000 dollars with which to pay for cotton and grain purchases. -(A. and N.Z.)
