He also says that the Chinese are increasing rapidly owing to the high birth rate and that they control most of the local trade. There are two Chinese hotels at Rabual to which Europeans are compelled to go because there is insufficient accommodation elsewhere.

The Chinese position and their rapid increase are regarded seriously by local people.
