WHOOPING COUGH.
A NEW TREATMENT.
CLAIMS FOR OXYGEN INJECTIONS. London, June 2. Medical interest has been aroused by th e report of a new and most effective treatment for wnooping cough—a complaint which Is usually a trouble to the patient for weeks, '•z not for months. The new cure has been successful in more than 600 cases, in which the illness was brought to an end in little more than a fortnight. The remedy consists in injecting oxygen beneath the skin. The oxygen is’ not the ordinary variety, but is freshly produced by a special apparatus, and is thus given in its nascent form, which, it is claimed, is the cause of the peculiar effects of the injections, which are given every two days. This novel and apparently effective treatment is due to the ingenuity of a French physician ana engineer working in co-operation. Their method is called the Salvoxyl treatment.
Claims are mad e that the injections are also beneficial in other illnesses, particularly tuberculosis and bronchitis.
