CANADA v. HAWKE’S BAY.

Sir,—The Hawke’s Bay Football Association is to be congratulated on the match played against Canada in Hastings yesterday. Spectators were treated to a scientific -exposition, of the Association came by teams of gentjemen. who strove in honest rivalry. The ball was always in play, the place-kicking and passing by our visitors being delightful to witness, and in pleasant contrast to the rough-and-tumble methods of the Rugby game. No wrestling bouts or spasmodic fisticuffs—just clean, straight-out football. No wonder that this game is so popular in England at the present time! The attendance was satisfactorily large, and I hone the match was a financial success. Manv of the-*, present seemed puzzled over the game, but a few more like yesterday’s should make people more familiar with the Soccer code, and encourage our voting men to toko up the game themselves. Our Hawke’s Bay team played wonderfully well. Yours, etc.. SPECTATOR. Hastings. llth July. 1927.
