TEACHER’S DISMISSAL.
APPEAL OF CATHERINE TSCH EREMISSINOFF. COURT’S DECISION. Wellington, July 13. The decision of the Teachers’ Appeal Court in the appeal of Catherine Tscheremissmoff against her dismissal by the Board of Governors of Wellington Girls’ College was promulgated to-day. It stated that the appellant was not wholly unfitted as a teacher, but was unfitted to teach such subjects as English and English history, and possibly similar subjects which required a thorough knowledge of English and English p. (mutation. Under the circumstances, the board was justified in refusing to retain the appellant in its service for such schools as Wellington Girls’ College. In view of the circumstances, however. the Court considers that the board should have dispensed with the appellant on the ground of proper and sound economy in administration and not have levelled against her the sweeping accusations of general inefficiency as a teacher of all subjects
