Turner, and Francis. The Canadians won the toss, and Hawke’s Bay kicked off. defending the southern goal. Play opened quietly, but the Canadians soon ,et up an attack and from a good centre from Milligan. Archibald headed over. Not to be denied. Canada came again, and Pogson opened their account four minutes from the start. Canada 1 Hawke’s Bav 0

From the kick-off. Hawke’s Bay took up the running. A good shot from Leicester was cleared smartly by Tait. For a short period the game was very even, until the Bay was awarded a free kick. Penman received, and Tait was again called upon to clear his lines. Canada again took up the attack, but rhe ball went behind. Some excellent work on the left bv H. Henderson and Penman resulted in the former putting across a good centre. Shepperd shooting wide. From a clearance in the Bav half Penman received and made a fine run. passing out nicely to H. Hendeison. who again centred, only to see Shepperd run the ball over the line. Penman and H. Henderson were playing a ore at game on the left wing and Campbell and McKniven showed good combination and judgment.

VISITORS EXTENDED. The game wa s very even, the Bav team fullv extending the visitors. The ball was taken down on the right wing. Leicester receiving transferred to Penman, whose shot as charged down, a corner resulting, which proved abortive. The Bay came again. Tait having to run out and kick away. From a throw-in Milligan received and tested Wilson. A few minutes later Canada were awarded a penalty for an infringement by a Ray defender, and Monaghan made no mistake with the kick Canada 2 Hawke’s Bav 0 The Canadians immediately returned to the Bav territory and Archibald netted the third goal for the tourists. Canada 3 Hawke’s Bay 0 From a free kick H. Henderson got away and put across another fine centre. Shepperd shooting hut Tait saved in great style. The Bay then forced a corner, which was cleared, the visitors again taking up the attack. but the ball was put over the bar. GOAL TO THE BAY. The Hawke’s Bay team were putting up a great game, having q,uite as much of the play as their opponents. Thirty-five minutes from the start, bv good combination, the ball was taken down and Shepperd opened the account for Hawke’s Bay.

Canada .. 3 Hawke’s Bav 1 H. Henderson again showed up on the left wing. Tait saved. Shepperd. receiving his shot, was beaten down, the ball going out to Shotten. who beat Tait with a good shot. Canada .. . , .. .. 3 Hawke’s Bay 2 Two minutes later half-time was called. On resuming even play resulted for about 15 minutes, when the Canada ians began to assert themselves, wearing the home team down, who were palpably tiring. Gilmour and Holmes proved stumbling blocks time after time, both men playing a o-reat game. Twenty-seven minutes from the re-start. Turner headed the fourth goal for the visitors, and five minutes later scored a fifth with a clinking shot. Canada 5 Hawke’s Bav 2

The Bav kept on breaking away, and were always troubling their opponents’ defence. The visitors showed great combination and control of the ball, and their headwork was particularly fine. This proved all the scoring, and the Canadians left the field winners bv 5 goals to 2. Mr T. Atkinson was referee. THISTLE CLUB DISPUTE AMICABLY SETTLED. Auckland, July 13. The dispute between the Auckland Football Association and Thistle Club involving the suspension of the officials of the club, has been amicably settled The dispute was the outcome of a suspension for one playing Saturday of Christie, a Thistle player, for allegediv kicking Woolley, a North Shore player. The Thistle Club team, which did not fulfil its engagement last week, will resume in the competition on Saturday
