Hawke’i Bay Board. HABTINOB SWITCH-HOUSE NEARLY COMPLETED ENGINEER’S REPORT. The monthly report submitted to the meeting of the Hanke’s Bay Electric Power Board to-day by the consulting engineers. Messrs Vickerman and Lancaster, states that good progress is made with the reticulating of the outer areas aod that the new switch-house at Hastings is nearing completion. It is interesting to note that the engineers intimated that the bulk supply system can tx> completed within their estimates for the work. The report is as under:— Sections Livened Up: The groups between Te Mata road and Havelock road were livened up on June li. On the 16th June the tie line from the Whakatu Works to Heretaunga street was livened up and shortly after power was supplied to the areas around Kararnu road and Omahu road. The Napier feeds were livened up on June 24 and the Napier borough commenced permanent supply July 1. Construction Bulk Supply Lines: The steel poles and towers have been erected on the section between the Fernhill road and Irongate road The cableg have been erected from Omaraunui road along the Fernlifll-Napiei road so that supply can Be given very shortly to groups 121, 122, 123, 124, 125 and 126.

As soon as this wiring is comple ed a start wil] be made erecting the wires along Maraekakaho road from Heretaunga street to Irongate road so that supply can be given along Tollemache road Good progress is being made in the construction of the Hastings substation and switch-house. WORK REMAINING. The works remaining to complete the bulk supply system as as follows: (a) Erection of 70 poles along the Paki Paki feeder. (b) Stringing the cable on the Unki Paki feeder from Fernhilj to the Paki Paki freering works. (c) Stringing the cable from Hero taunga street to Irongate road. (d) Erection of the sub-station ut the Paki Paki freezing works Construction of Country Reticulation : The balance of the poles have only recently been delivered and the contractor has erected xioes of the poles on Haumoana section and a •tart has been made afonp Maraekakaho road towards the M.A.C. Apart from the extensions, it will be seen that very little remains to complete the black and part red areas. Estimates: We have again worked out the construction cost necessary to complete the balance of the reticulation of the black and part red areas, and the bulk supply system, and we find that the whole works wi" be completed within our estimates.
