RIOT IN A MOSQUE.
MOB ASSAUL’iS UNARMED TROOPS. MANY CASUALTIES. Baghdad July 10. The lamentations in connection with the Muharram Moslem festival culminated in a riot in the mosque. This apparently originatel in an individual dispute between a soldier and a civilian and the mob, inflamed by religious fervour, assaulted the unarmed troops with sticks and knives. The troops replied with their belts. It is estimated that two soldiers were killed and 26 wounded; three' civilians being killed and 23 wounded.— A. and N.Z.)
