, The long-night dance, held on Friday evening in the schoolroom, was a most successful 1 unction, patrons attending from Havelock, Hastings, and Paki Paki, and an excellent evening was spent by the large number who attended Dancing, to good music supplied by Mr. Wi Kani, was kept up until an early hour, Mr. Hugh Thomson acting as M.C. During the evening a Monte Carlo waltz was put on, the winners being Miss Melba Goldfinch and Mr. James Southcott.

The following ladies were in charge of the supper arrangements, which were all that could be desired Mesdames Brittin, tnomson and Evans. These dances are becoming increasingly popular and the School Committee were very pleased to see so many new faces present and hope they will continue to support the dances for the rest of the season. The thanks of the committee are due to Miss Gladys Lean and Mr. Jack Cato, for prizes donated tor the Monte Carlo waltzing competition A large number of Pukahu residents journeyed to Masterton on Saturday to witness the Ranfurly Shield match between Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa, returning home the same evening, delighted to know that the coveted Shield has been regained by the Hawke’s Bay representatives.
