In the Police Court in Dunedin on Saturday morning Harry Albert Park, on a charge of fraudulently staling that he had posted a postal packet containing a money order for £5, whereas in fact he had not done so, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. A daring theft is reported to have occurred at the bottle department of the Excelsor Hotel, Dunedin, on Saturday night. About 4 o’clock ia the afternoon a man tendered a £1 note in payment for a bottle of whisky, and as the barman was getting change from the cash register the purchaser asked to have the cork drawn. The barman left the till open and began to comply with tho request but as he was bending to draw the cork the stranger leaned over and grabbing a handful of notes from tho till, made a hasty exit.
