ADULTERATED LIQUOR

A SERIOUS OFFENCE.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF LICENSEES. Wellington, June 6. At the annual meeting of the Licensing Committee, the chairman, Mr. M. G. Riddell, S.M., dolling with the police report said that the conduct generally was satisfactory but there had been three prosecutions for selling adulterated liquor. “The committee regards the offence of adulterating liquor as a very serious one,” said the chairman, “which, if continued, would' warrant the cancellation of the licenses of the particular 1-icencees who indulge in the practice. The public must be protected. Licensees are expected to sell good liquor of standard brands and should not make a profit by means of adulteration.”
