A YOUTH DROWNED.

FIVE OTHERS HAVE NARROW ESCAPE. Christchurch, Dec. 30. Ron Eden, aged IA, of Grafton street, Linwood, wns drowned at Sumner this morning when a vacht of which he was a member of the crew. capsized. The other five members of the crew were rescued in an exhausted condition. The capsize was caused by a heavy breaker. A scratch surf crew of three from the Sumner Life Saving Chib went out and after a long struggle brought the five youths ashore, two of whom were unconscious for some time. Eden’s body is not yet recovered.
