ADVENTUROUS YOUTHS
TRIP DOWN THE TUKI TUKI. AN EXCITING TIME. Three Hastings lad*—David and Archie Christie and Bob Gloyn—inspired by the spirit of adventure, boarded a flat-bottomed boat at Waipawa ou Christmas morning and sailed forth on the waters of the Tuki Tuki, camping M the Patangata bridge on Christmas night. Next voyage reaching Mr. Cameron’s residence, near the Waimarama Bridge, on Sunday night, after a strenuous experience with the flooding river. They put up for the night with Mr. Cameron, who. however, strongly advised them not to resume their journey in the then condition of the Tuki Tuki, and very sensibly, they acted on his advice. Leaving their craft in Mr Cameron’s charge they set out for their home* in Hastings, to find that their relatives, who were very concerned for their safety, were very glad to see them sound and , strong. They intend to get afloat once more as soon as the river gets in a more reasonable mood, when they will complete their navigation of tho stream as far as Clive Grange, their original destination.
