HIGH TREASON CHARGE.
PORTUGUESE OFFICIAL DISMISSED.
(Received 20. 11.55 a.m.) Lisbon, Sept. 19. Colonel Almeida, Governor of Caiie Verde Islands, and War Offlce Minister, has been dismissed from his office. It is officially stated that he was arrested on a charge of high treason for issuing proclamations to tile army stating, “the Government is resigning, and the Premier, who has been appointed President 'of the republic, has commissioned me to form a Cabinet.”—(A. and N.Z )
