QUESTION OF ITS EXPENDITURE

Wellington, Aug. 24. , Argument was heard before the Chief Justice to-day as to whether whether £30,000 received by the Red Cross Society from the British Society was a war fund and expendtiure limited by the provisions of the War Funds Act, 1915, or whether it could be used in the alleviation of suffering generally. Mr C. G. White appeared -for the New Zealand Red Cross and Mr A. Fair, Solicitor-General, for the Minister. The Chief Justice (Air Justice Skerrett) reserved bis decision.
