PROPOSED NEW ZEALANDERS' TOUR, ARRANGEMENT WELL UNDER WAY. Christchurch, Aug. 23. Matters relating to the proposed visit of a New Zealand cricket team to England next yeaf were discussed at to-night’s meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council.

Under date Ixmdon, July 14, Mr. Arthur Sims wrote that the programme was being fixed np entirely by Mr. Swan, who had made very good progress. Altogether he bad secured fixtures against sixteen of the first-class counties, and would have no difficulty in filling up the other dates. All the counties would give one-half the gross proceeds of the takings. It was not impossible that at Hie finish six or eight counties would guarantee £lOO each. Mr. Sims expressed the opinion that 14 men would be ample. He had never noticed any good come from having five or six men standing out match alter match. It only led to friction, and, alter all, the earlier Australian teams got through with 13 oi*l4 men. He had been promised definite figures with reference to the cost per man per day in England. Mr. Sydney Smith thought that a New Zealand team could get through on under £3OO ner man for the tour. Mr. Sims concludes: “Noble seems to think that the New Zealanders will give an average first-class county all they want,’’

A cable message was read from Mr. Sims stating that the cost per man of the West Indies team was £220.

It was resolved: “That a special meeting of delegates be convened for September 17, to which nne special representative of each major association be invited, to attend at the council's expense.” It was also resolved: “That the suggested tour he financed bv the incorporation of a company tn be called New Zealand Cricket. Limited, with a capital of £BOOO divided into 1600 shares of £5 each, and that the management committee be authorised to take the necessary steps for preparing the prospectus for the said company.” The secretary was instructed to pencil passages by a steamer due to arrive in England alx>ut May 1. The number to be sent was fixed at 14 pinvers and a manager. It was decided to recommend to the special meeting a selection committee consisting of three. It was decided to recommend to the special meeting that the council invest £5OO of the council’s funds in the shares of the company.
