Paramount Week ATTRACTION

"WILD HORSE MESA.” Zane Grey’s, thrilling story coining to the Municipal Theatre for Paramount's sixth annual joy week. “Wild Horse Mesa,” a Paramount picture, starring Jack Holt, Billio Dore, Noah Beery, coming on Wednesday, September Ist. Plan now open at Pratt’s. A mesa is a high, broad and flat tableland, usually surrounded by precipitous paths and ilifl's. And this is the locale where much of this screen drama takes place. It is another Zane Grey story, with rugged characters playing a prominent part in its composition. These are almost subordinated by the thousands of wild horses which appear occasionally, ini Imled being a white outlaw which defies all efforts to capture it. The many “shots" secured by the camera men considerably enhance the value of the picture. As to plot, it is familiar, but. thanks to the very able work of the principals, amongst whom is Beery, as the usual villain, a rather interesting drama is unfolded. Holt ig cast as Chane Weymer. who tries to catch a bunch of wild horses, headed by a remarkable white leader called Panguich. Weymer is a friend of the Indians, who aid him considerably, but he is oppressed by Macpherson and the latter’s gang. At- different periods the hero is placed in l very serious positions, due to the machinations of the villains, and he

has to exercise a great deal of ingenuity to escape. It is his wits which eventually aid in his capture of the leader and a large number of animals, much to the chagrin of Macpherson and his men. With the hero in a bad way at one time, he makes his way back to the camp, where be finds rhe father of tlip heroine preparing a stockade, litteil with barbed wire, for the accommodation of all the captured horses. He remonstrates, when the father's partner deterniines to have things his way; a fight results, and the loser gets the benefit of a contact wiih the wire. At this juncture, Macpherson and his men. arriving suddenly on the scene, prepare io drive the animals into the stockade, but just how they are rout, ed In-ings the story to a surprising and dramatic termination.
