A very nice field paraded for the Cup, in which the only defections were Merry Day and Mangatoetoe. They were let go on even terms, Killoch’s colours showing out, then Gaze, Piuthair and Star Stranger. Goin ground the Southland road bend Killoch went away in front from Piuthair, Gaze and Star Stranger. Along the back. Killoch still maintained a good lead from Opa and Gaze. Killoch and Opa entered the home turn together, with the favourite and Novar handy. Killoch failed over the last bit, leaving Opa and Star Stranger to fight the issue out, and they passed the post together, the judge being unable to separate them. Gaze was four lengths back. Time, 2.33 4-5.

FORBURY PARK TROTS. Dunedin, April 30. The Forbury Park trots opened in fine weather with a large crowd. The track was dull, but not very heavy. Results: — Bayfield Handicap.—l Guy Parrish 1, 3 Fanlight 2, 7 Some Jazz 3. .Scratched: cornhine, Kerrnell, Lady Alva. Won by a length and a hah, two lengths between second .ana third, lime, 4.1.

Domain Handicap.—9 Jolly Pet 1. 6 I is Pal 2, 7 Jolly Rogers 3. Scratched: Kibirngi. Won by three lengths, third two lengths away, lime, 3.46. Leach Handicap.— b Bismurate 1, 13 Edward Harwin 2, 1 Daphne Wildwood 3. Scratched: Kanuknot, Carbon, Lenamhor, Tarzan, Sine Sopn. Won by half a length, three and a half lengths between second and third. Time, 2.16 1-5. splendidly, held it.
