HAWKE’S BAY AND P. SOCIETY

MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. The committee of the Hawke’s A. and P. Society met at Napier this morning, the president, Mr. H. A. Russell presiding over a fair attendance. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was dealt with as follows:— The New Zealand Aberdeen Angus Cattle Breeders’ Association notified that it had been decided to increase the prize for the champion group of one bull and three females to £3 3/-. - The chairman pointed out that the champion group at present consisted of one bull and four females and it was not clear if the Aberdeen Angqs Association wished the number to be reduced. It was decided that the offer should be accepted and the revision committee confer with the association to ascertain if it was desired to reduce t|ie number. Mr. Henry Hill wrote suggesting certain improvements in the native industries section and the institution of an exhibition of objects of historical interest. It was decided to reMr Mr. Hill’s first suggestion to Messrs. Ebbett, Bennett, Tomoana and Taranaki Te Ua for their opinion and that he be asked to further suggest some way of starting an historical exhibition such as he described. NEW MEMBERS. Odlin Timber Cb. forwarded a contribution of £1 Is for the Society’s prize funds. A vote of thanks was passed. The New Zealand Kennel Club notified that the Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Society has been allotted the following challenges for the coming season:— Rough-coated collies: smooth-coated collies, beardies, Irish water spaniels, and old English sheepdogs. The balance-sheet of the Autumn Show disclosed an estimated loss of £B2 7s 9d, against an actual loss for the previous Autumn Show held on the racecourse in 1924 of £94 6s 9d. The chairman said that it was always anticipated that there would be a small loss on the Autumn Show and it was satisfactory to find that the loss waa £l2 less for the first show on the new grounds than for the last shenr on the old grounds. Votes of thanks in connection wltfc the last Autumn Show were passed a* follows: To the judges, stewards and press, H.B. Jockey Club. Mr. J. H. Harris for supplying sheep for dog trials: Mr. Dempster Thompson for supplying sheep for guessing competition ; Mr. D. A. Evans, police and tho railway officers for controlling the traffic; C. H. Slater and Co. ror supplying fruit and materials Tor apple-packing competition; Mr. W. A. Alexander for carrying out the killing and weighing of sheep in the guessing competition; Borough Council for the use of the water cart. Accounts totalling £195 16s 8d were passed for payment.
