Rifle Shooting

OKAWA CHAMPIONSHIPS. WON BY wT'j 7 . GREEN. Last week-end the annual championship was shot off under ideal weather conditions, and some very high scoring was done. The championship was won by AV. J. Green, who takes the Lowry Belt and one guinea with the record score of 230. The runner-up with 221, was E. L. Brathwaite, jnr., who won the Bone Cup and 10s 6d. The B Grade Championship, with the Campbell Cup and one guinea, was won by R. T. Cleary. The runnerup was I. G. Mackersey, who won the Junior Cup and 10s 6d. Following are the detailed scores: — s A. RIVERS CUP. ’The scores for ranges of 300, 500 and 600 yards also counted for the final series of the Rivers Cup competition, which was won by AV. J. Green with a total score of 273. Following are the scores:—

At the rifle range on Saturday last members of the above club held a shoot for Air AVm. Nelson’s gold medal and Air T. Parker’s trophy. Rifleman R. Mundy won the medal with a good score of 91 out of 100. Rifleman J. T. Hawkins won Air. 1. Parker’s trophy with a score of 90. Rifleman R. Nicholson made top score of 87 off the rifle, and takes the club’s ladder badge. PASSMORE SHIELD. Nelson, Alar. 27. “C" Company of the Nelson, Blenheim and AVest 'Coast Regiment (holders) have again won the Passmore Shield for the best company in the Southern Command, obtaining 529 points, against Oamaru’s 440 and Ashburton’s 381. The company will now represent the Command for the Campbell Statuette.
