TARADALE-GREENMEADOWS ROAD.
A BITUMEN SURFACE. Rapid progress is being made by the Taradale Town Board with the work of tar-sealing the Tarada 10-Grecn-meadows road. It is expected to put a coat of bitumen over this in about a fortnight’s time. For many years thL section of road has not only been costly to maintain, hut it has often been a source of danger to the travelling public. Two years ago the Board widened the road and at the same time carried out improvements to the drainage of the district. The work when completed will make a very line highway. It is hoped that the County Council will undertake al an early dale the I section between Greenmeadows an { | the Napier Iraro-ugh. boundary. This section costs approximately £260 per annum in maintenance, and the putting down of tar seal and bitumen would not only , give a much superior highway hut one • that would be considerably cheaper to , mil i n t a 111.
