A photoplay that should strike home and convey to all those who see it, a message of true understanding about tho morals of the modern girl, will be seen when “The Painted Flapper,” a Chadwick Picture presentation begins a three nights engagement at the Mun ; cipal Theatre. A sterling cast of players portray this story of a gay youni* flapper and of the vital part she plays in the lives of her parents. Heading the cast is Pauline Garon who casting directors of the various film companies have acclaimed the pei■feet flapper type. She is the flapper of this picture, and what an admirable flapper she makes. The other star is that ever popular James Kirkwood who plays the xole ot the man from abroao. The rest of the cast are all favourites. Johnny Harron, the popular juvenile, has a prominent part in this picture. Others who arc well known to tho movie fans and who have parts, arc Claire Adams, Crauford Kent, Maine Garey, Hal Cooley, Al Roscoe, Carleton Griffin and many others.

“EAST OF SUEZ.” Starting at the Cosy de Luxe to-night. A cast chosen from the ranks of the foremost screen players in the motion picture capital plays in the support of i’ola Negri in her latest Paramount production, “East of Suez,” a Raoul Walsh product ion adapted by Sada Cowan from the Broadway stage play by Somerset Maugham. Edmund Lowe plays opposite the star. He has a featured role along with Rockcliff e Fellowes and Noah Beery. Lowe has been starred in several recent successes and will be remembered for his work in support of Betty Compson in “The White Flower.” . Fellowes, one of the strongest players on the screen, recently scored a decided hit in both “The Border Legion,” a Paramount picturisation of Zane Grey’s novel, and the Janies Cruze production. “The Garden of Weeds.” Noah Beery has given really great characterisations in a long string of Paramounts—“ Wanderer of the Wasteland,” “North of 36” and others. # ‘ ‘ ONE WAY STREET. ’ ’ Showing on Wednesday and Thursday only at the Cosy de Luxe. “One Way Street,” one of the year’s sensations in the literary field, is coming in screen form next week to the Cosy de Luxe Theatre, with Ben Lyon and Anna Nilsson in the featured role. The picture was produced by First National from the novel by Beale Davis. The author has fashioned a tale that, while gripping in its suspense and universal in its theme, yet was particularly adaptable for screening. The title of the Master Picture Special Feature, “Hold Your Breath, suggested. itself during the filming of a thrilling scene in which Dorothy Devore, who plays the leading role, was executing a daring “stunt.” Miss Devore was called upon to allow herself to be lowered from the fifth floor of an office building to the pavement below by means of a fire-hose. When she alighted safely after a rapid slide.
