TONGARIRO PARK.

ERECTION OF A HOTEL. Wellington, Dec. 19. At the half-yearly meeting of the Tongariro National Park Board yesterday, recommendations regarding a hostel site and lease to a private enterprise were adopted. The board will consider applications for the right to erect and conduct a hostel within the park, the initial accommodation to be for 75 persons, with two tennis courts. Land may be set aside for a golf course, but the laying out of the links is not an essential part of the contract. The term of lease is 42 years, with protection for improvements, the annual rental to be based on the net profits of the lessee, the board being empowered to collect what it considers equitable within a limit of 10 per cent.
