NEARING JAPANESE ZONE. WARNING TO RIVAL COMMANDERS. (Received 9, 11.45 a.m.) Toiko, Dee. 8. As the result of the theatre of hostilities nearing the Japanese defence zone, the Wai- Office announces the text of a communication which the commander of the Japanese Kwantung army expects to send simultaneously to the rival Chinese commanders fighting in Afanehuria. .After emphasising Japan’s strict non-interference policy hitherto followed, the communication! contains a warning that if hostilities in the railway zone or adjacent districts jeopardise Japanese lives or property, Japanese troops will be constrained to act.— (A. and N.Z.)
