Tho Manuka is again delayed by firemen exercising job control. When sailing time was arriving a number of firemen were missing and could not bo located. The vessel is still held up, but is expected to sail to-day.
WHARF LABOURERS AND SEAMEN. (Received 8, 11.15 a.m.) Sydney, Dec. 8. Thc dispute between the Wharf Labourers’ Federation and the coastal smmcn has been settled, the watersiders agreeing to permit seamen to carry out wharf labouring work where no federation mon are available. AN UNPOPULAR DONKEYMAN THREE STEAMERS HELD UP. Greymouth, Dee. 8. Thp steamers Poolta, Kaiapoi, and Kaimai were due to leave yesterday, but were held up owing to thc crew of the Poolta demanding the dismissal of the donkeyman. The Kuiapoi and Kaimai men men took sympathetic action. It is stated that the donkeyman is regarded as a good, worker.
