VOTES OF THE RATANASTES.
ONLY HALF RECORDED. Wanganui, Nov. 4. When the Ratana party wore about to embark for their trip to America overtures were made to them to support Sir Maui Pomare. There was consequently a good deal of speculation as to what promises Ratana had made tp Sir Maui Pomare, and how members of the Ratana movement would vote. T he natives when approached wore very discreet, and invariably would reply that Air. Downs, manager of the ’Ratana Bank, was the man who was fixing things up. It now transpires i (Jiat Ratana’s final advice to his followers was to lie low. This thev did. for yesterday not half of the natives at Ratana Pa recorded their votes.
